The formal opening of the recreation hall included a nine-course dinner prepared by WPA and Fort Missoula employees as well as a cabaret party at the nearby officer’s club. The building also housed boxing matches and basketball tournaments. During the Alien Detention Center, the detainees used the building for numerous musical and theatrical productions. The building was destroyed by fire on December 7, 1946.
